Bold and Elegant Wedding in September | Megan + Jason from Columbia, MO

Megan and Jason, two busy professionals previously from the Columbia, MO area, hosted their elegant wedding day at Emerson Fields. It was a day with rich colors, elegant details, delicious desserts, and an intimate guest list. This lovely couple got engaged at Arches National Park after waking up early to see the sunrise. After they returned to their hotel that day, Megan and Jason began searching for wedding venues near Columbia, MO and they found us! They called our office that day and set up a tour appointment for after their vacation.

This sweet couple knew what they wanted in a wedding venue! After their tour of Emerson Fields, they booked a September wedding. We asked Megan what made them choose Emerson Fields instead of another wedding venue near Columbia, MO.

We could do everything there! The venue rental was for the whole weekend. We could do our rehearsal without having to worry about another wedding happening the day before ours and we were able to have our rehearsal dinner there as well. This all made it nice for our wedding party who were traveling.

At Megan and Jason’s initial tour appointment, we were able to sit down and discuss their ideal wedding weekend: Full weekend rental, outdoor ceremony location, connections to top wedding vendors, and a laid-back atmosphere. We flipped through a photo book of one of our favorite St. Louis area wedding photographers, Emily Broadbent, and Megan contacted her immediately. We also talked about the fact that the couple both have professional and busy careers so they didn’t have a lot of free time for wedding planning. We suggested a full-service wedding planner and were thrilled when they chose the Plan It Terra team.

We’ll show you how seamlessly this elegant September wedding came together, but for now, check out some of these gorgeous flat-lay detail shots from Emily Broadbent! Emily crafts the most beautiful detail shots that help to tell the story of the wedding day. 10/10 recommend working with a professional wedding photographer like Emily!

Emily has perfected magazine-worthy styling, wouldn’t you agree? Her attention to detail grabbed Megan’s focus for sure. Megan and Jason chose Bare Roots LLC for all of their fresh florals and we love how much the florals pop in these bridal detail shots!

Megan and her bridesmaids got ready together in the bridal suite with professional hair and makeup artists who traveled to Emerson Fields. After getting into her wedding gown with the help of her mom, Megan did a first look with her father. Then she exited the room and showed off her wedding gown to all her best girlfriends!

Meanwhile, Jason’s wedding party arrived and changed into their dark blue tuxedos in the main floor dressing suite at Emerson Fields. Jason is an Esports coach and he and his friends had a great time chilling together in the dressing suite.

While all these lovely people got dressed up inside the venue, Plan It Terra and her team directed the design and transformed Emerson Fields. Terra offers full-service wedding planning, so the couple was able to give ideas for styling, atmosphere, and overall design. Then Terra and her team ran with it and presented ideas and vendors back to the couple. This led to some wonderful collaborations between wedding vendors to create this elegant September wedding day at Emerson Fields!

Megan and Jason were very intentional with their guest list. They wanted people there to celebrate with them while keeping it intimate and welcoming. With a guest count of 40, we were able to set all of the ceremony chairs in the grassy area by the dock. This left plenty of space on the back patio for a luxe, rich-toned lounge.

Pretty Little Things provided the styling and rented all the vintage pieces to create the lounge inside the venue and on the back patio. Kailey with Bare Roots created the floral arrangement of deep and rich wine hues, mauve, and blush tones for a stunning arbor backdrop. We [Amelia & Steve] even took a quick photo op on the lounge to test it out before the ceremony!

Then it was wedding ceremony time! This beautiful, sunny September afternoon was perfect for an outdoor wedding on the dock at Emerson Fields. Jason’s face when he first saw his bride walking down the aisle made everyone well up with tears. The intimate outdoor wedding ceremony was thoughtful, romantic, and perfectly “them.” Having family and friends seated close added to the intimacy of the ceremony and we love how Emily Broadbent captured this beautiful September wedding ceremony at Emerson Fields.

Megan and Jason took family formals and wedding party photos in the pavilion after the ceremony. This allowed all the wedding guests to seamlessly flow towards cocktail hour on the back patio and around the bar inside the venue. Guests enjoyed delicious drinks and appetizers while the wedding party joked around and had fun with the photos!

When you work with a full planning and styling team the wedding day comes together seamlessly and every detail, big and small, is covered. Here’s what Megan had to say about working with the Plan It Terra team.

Honestly, they made it so easy!! They knew all the things to ask and had great suggestions when I was unsure about the logistics or look of something.

Having vendors that enjoy working together makes the planning process and day run so smooth!

It was a huge bonus to have a full wedding planning service, especially when Megan’s job relocated the couple to Iowa right before the wedding! They were still able to be in communication and knew their wedding planner had it all under control.

After some beautiful portraits around Emerson Fields, the couple joined their guests for the reception. Pretty Little Things had done a stunning job of incorporating vintage pieces into the guest table centerpieces. The amber glass bottles with the table numbers painted on and brass accents stood out against the wine-colored tablecloths. With a blank canvas like Emerson Fields, pops of color make a big statement!

Megan and Jason entered the reception space and enjoyed their first dance, then toasts, a delicious mashed potato bar, and some special dances with loved ones.

The couple drew inspiration for their dessert bar from attending an Open Venue Experience previously at Emerson Fields. They met Cakes by Kristina at this open house style event where she showcased the same waffle cone desserts. Megan and Jason have a sweet tooth and knew they wanted to wow everyone with a decadent dessert bar. Kristina displayed customized waffle cones with caramel apple crisp and peanut butter explosion flavors. YUM! They also chose a two-tiered naked-style wedding cake with vanilla almond flavor and raspberry filling, decorated with vibrant florals and 24-karat gold foil.

High Class DJs got the couple’s friends and family out on the dance floor and everyone had a great time! Keeping the guest list intimate means they got to connect individually with each wedding guest and see everyone on the dance floor together.

This elegant wedding looked beautiful with each touch of romantic detail. The Plan It Terra team knocked it out of the park with a warm and rich design.

I think one of my favorite designs for the year was Megan and Jason’s. The color palette was so BOLD and rich, and we loved that this client chose to add on Pretty Little Things’ full styling service with our signature planning experience. Everything from the classic car to the bouquets to the little details were so tasteful and so beautiful!

Megan and Jason slipped out for some glowing golden hour portraits on the dam and the winding lane of Emerson Fields. These are always some of our favorite portraits because the couple relaxes into each other and enjoys a few private moments together.

We asked Megan, “What was your favorite part of your wedding day at Emerson Fields?”

Besides marrying Jason, seeing the venue for the first time. Everything came together so nicely. We still are getting compliments!

A sparkler exit or a getaway car? Always choose BOTH! This couple rode away in style in this peachy pink classic car. Their incredible team of professional wedding vendors made sure their wedding day went by seamlessly. Megan and Jason look so relaxed and joyful in these final photos from their wedding day at Emerson Fields. That is our wish for every couple who books their wedding weekend here!
